There are various entrance exams that are available for candidates that are aiming for law as a career.
Some of these exams are AILET (All India Law Entrance Test), CLAT (Common Law Admission Test), LSAT (Law School Admission Test), etc. The main question that arises in the mind of many law aspirants is whether to take CLAT coaching or AILET coaching.
Although there are a lot of questions related to the entrance tests but the question that is asked the most from the candidates is whether the AILET is tougher than the CLAT. This is one question that is in the minds of most of the candidates.

CLAT (Common Law Admission Test)
The CLAT exam is conducted by the Consortium of NLUs and many universities including twenty-two different NLUs and other private universities accept the scores of the CLAT exam for admission in the law courses.

The number of questions that are asked in the CLAT exam is 150 questions.
It is divided into 5 sections that are English, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Current Affairs including general knowledge, and quantitative analysis.
Pattern of the CLAT exam
The CLAT exam is a paper that is based on comprehension passages. These passages are followed by multiple-choice questions. Furthermore, each of the passages ranges between 300 to 500 words followed by 4 to 5 multiple-choice questions.
Section-wise syllabus of the CLAT exam
English Language: The English language consists of an average of 28 to 32 questions. Most of the part of the English section has comprehension passages based on fiction and non-fiction stories. It also includes word meanings, phrases, language skills, etc.
Current Affairs including general knowledge: The general knowledge section consists of an average of 35 to 59 questions. Most of the part of the general knowledge section consists of current affairs related to the country and the world. Other things include art and culture, history, etc.
Legal Reasoning: The legal reasoning section consists of an average of 35 to 39 questions. This section consists of questions related to legal matters like the law of contracts, the law of torts, etc.
Logical Reasoning: The logical reasoning section consists of an average of 28 to 32 questions. The questions are asked regarding the analogies, statements and conclusions, statements and arguments, etc.
Quantitative Analysis: The quantitative analysis section consists of an average of 13 to 17 questions which are the least among the other sections. This section is related to topics like ratio and proportions, graphical representations, etc.
Marking scheme in the CLAT exam: In the CLAT exam, a candidate is provided with one mark each for every answer rightly marked. This adds up to a total of 150 marks from which the students are given their scores. For an answer that is wrongly marked, the candidate is provided with a negative marking of 0.25 marks which means one mark is deducted for four answers that are wrongly marked. AILET (All India Law Entrance Test)
The AILET exam is conducted by the National Law University (Delhi) for admission in their university only and no other university accepts the scores of AILET. There are numerous AILET coaching institute in Delhi
The number of questions
The number of questions that are asked in the AILET exam is 150 questions. It is divided into three sections that are English, Logical Reasoning, and Current Affairs including General Knowledge.
The pattern of the AILET exam
The AILET exam is an exam based on multiple-choice questions. Direct questions are asked from each of the sections and there are no passages. Only in the English section, one or two comprehension passages are given rest are direct questions from the topics.

English Language: The English language section consists of an average of 50 questions. This section consists of one-third of the total questions in the AILET exam. It includes the concepts like synonyms, antonyms, jumble words and sentences, idioms and phrases, etc.
Current Affairs including General Knowledge
The Current Affairs including General Knowledge section consists of an average of 30 to 40 questions. This section includes the topics related to History, Science, Geography, Current Affairs related to the country and the world, etc.
Logical Reasoning including Legal Reasoning
The logical reasoning section consists of an average of 60 to 70 questions. It includes the topics like logical reasoning skills, analogies, and legal reasoning includes topics as the law of contracts, the law of torts, etc.
Marking scheme in CLAT and AILET
In the AILET exam also, a candidate is provided with one mark each for every answer rightly marked. It is similar to the marking scheme of the CLAT exam. This adds up to a total of 150 marks from which the students are given their scores. For an answer that is wrongly marked, the candidate is provided with a negative marking of 0.25 marks which means one mark is deducted for four answers that are wrongly marked.
Conclusion: The basic overview of the two entrance exams specifies that both of the exams are similar among themselves. On the contrary, it is believed that the AILET exam is tougher than the CLAT exam. Certainly, it is due to the fact that the competition between the candidates among themselves is very high. The AILET exam is conducted by the NLU Delhi for admission to their university only. The total number of seats that are available in the National Law University (Delhi) is only around 110. In addition to it, the number of candidates that prepare and attempt the AILET exam is somewhere around eighteen thousand to twenty thousand which makes it difficult to crack. On the contrary, the CLAT exam offers admission to different universities. Due to this reason, the AILET exam is considered to be tougher than the CLAT exam.
